More on that as I actually give it a shot. I’m pretty sure I’ll follow Ismael_DM’s suggestion in the comments of using the tutorial on Newbie DM’s blog to make flat tokens using metal washers. The things I haven’t been certain about are what to do about maps and what to do about tokens. I’ve gotten the adventure module (WATE1-1 Heirloom) and read through it once, which is a good start.

Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality. As I mentioned in my last post, I’ll be a first-time DM for a Living Forgotten Realms (LFR) session at my local store on July 24, 2010. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.įor printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. You can do the same with the VTT files too - we've provided the full village as a single VTT image (as one of many versions), and you can crop out sections if your VTT can't handle. That way you can crop the area of the full map you want (without upper floors) and print it. Have a look at software like which allows you to cut any image up and print as separate pages. It's very easy to generate print-at-home pdfs of any crop you'd like. However, because we've provided the full jpeg of the whole village without any upper floors depicted, it's very easy for you to crop out the section you want and print that. We thought it would be helpful to also include bonus close-up crops of the key locations, and they have the upper floors present.
